Client | Massachusetts Highway Department |
Contract Amount | $35,842,000 |
This was one of the early Central Artery/Tunnel projects (known unofficially as the Big Dig). This project involved construction of a pair of concrete combined sewer outfall lines. The outfall was a concrete structure approximately 17 feet wide and 14 feet in height and a combined length of 5200 LF. Part of this outfall was constructed as a post-tensioned prestressed precast concrete bridge spanning the new approach of the Third Harbor Tunnel. This project also involved construction of steel sheeting earth support system, excavation and disposal of excess earth for installation of outfall culverts. Portions included a slurry wall foundation and load bearing elements (LBEs) to support the post-tensioned prestressed precast concrete bridge. The project also included a slurry wall ground water cut-off call and several lane miles of Harborside Drive (Highway Type Construction) to be reconstructed and portions to be constructed new. It also required reconstruction of portions of Logan Airport Taxiway.
