Cashman Equipment Barges Support Emergency Salvage Efforts in Cuba

In September 2012, Cashman Equipment supported TITAN Salvage’s emergency response to a container ship grounded in Cuba. The containership was en route from Santiago de Cuba to Havana, Cuba, when it came ashore after losing power during Tropical Storm Isaac in late August. Following the grounding, TITAN contracted with Cashman Equipment to provide a deck barge for lightering of cargo and to support the preparation of the barge and loading out of equipment at Cashman Equipment’s Amelia, Louisiana facility. Cashman Equipment provided TITAN with a marine facility, personnel and equipment for handling of materials and fabrication and welding to modify the barge for the salvage operation.
The project’s success hinged on a coordinated and timely response by TITAN Salvage and Cashman Equipment is pleased to have been able to provide TITAN Salvage with vessel and services to ensure the success of this operation.
The ship was successfully refloated and redelivered to owners in October 2012.
